In the Spotlight: Cadillac’s Super Cruise Hands-Free Driving System

2022 Cadillac XT6 | Bozeman, MT

Imagine being able to sit back in the driver’s seat, take your hands off the wheel, and relax while your vehicle does all the work of driving down the highway. That’s exactly the experience you can enjoy inside a Cadillac car or SUV equipped with cutting-edge Super Cruise technology.

The Super Cruise hands-free driving system keeps the vehicle centered in its lane, navigates curves, slows and speeds up with traffic, and maintains a safe following distance. On certain models, you can even tow a trailer or direct Super Cruise to change lanes.

To do all this, Super Cruise combines cameras, sensors, GPS, and LiDAR precision mapping for more than 200,000 miles of roadway in the U.S. and Canada. To use it, you’ll need to subscribe to a Cadillac Connected Services plan. Then, all you need to do is turn on Adaptive Cruise Control, wait for a signal that you’re on a road that’s compatible with the system, and press a dedicated Super Cruise button.

There’s one catch to all of this: You need to keep your eyes on the road the entire time. Super Cruise has a Driver Attention Camera that can detect if you’re looking at your phone, another passenger, or do anything else that takes your eyes off the road. If you don’t redirect your attention after being warned, the system will gradually slow your vehicle to a stop.

Super Cruise is currently available on the 2022 Cadillac Escalade and XT6, and it will also be included with the upcoming 2023 LYRIQ EV. Contact our team here at Ressler Cadillac in Bozeman, Montana, to learn how you can experience Super Cruise for yourself.
